Cappuccino or Latte: What is the Difference?


Some people say they don’t taste the difference, most people don’t even know the difference and they are maybe a bit afraid to ask. I want to save you the embarrassment of asking because we have the answer.

Let me give you my version of each of these drinks.

Well, they are more similar to each other than you think. Both drinks are made with your Verismo Coffeemaker, using espresso pods and both are a three layered beverage.
They both make a nice presentation when they are served in a clear mug or cup.

It’s the milk and the amount of foam you use that is the difference between a cappuccino and a latte. A latte consists of more milk and is normally served in a taller mug. The amount of espresso in these two is the same.

latteA latte (also called Macchiato) is an espresso, which is prepared with a quarter espresso, one-half steamed milk, and with a quarter of milk foam on top of that. Sometimes flavors are added.




verismo review - cappuccinoA cappuccino is prepared with one-third espresso, one-third steamed milk and one-third foamed milk. A little bit of cocoa powder on top of the foam makes a nice presentation.
So the difference is really a latte has less espresso in it.
